A Trumbull County Grand Jury has ordered that a Sharpsville, Pennsylvania man remain in jail after he was indicted for his alleged role in a deadly traffic accident.

Fifty-five-year-old Joseph Yuran pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Yuran, a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, was arrested after a November 17th crash in Southington.  State Troopers say Yuran’s pickup truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of US 422 and State Route 305 in Southington colliding with a Chevy Malibu, killing the driver 23-year-old Tyler Richmond of Warren.

Yuran was released on bond but was re-arrested on November 28 after State Troopers submitted Yuran's driving record to a judge.

The record revealed that Yuran had been arrested by Jefferson Township Police in Mercer County on October 16 on charges of DUI and failure to keep on the right side of the road.

Police say they found Yuran in his pickup after passing motorists reported a truck stopped in the middle of Lamor Road. The arresting officer said that Yuran was staggering when he got out of the truck.

Yuran faces a hearing before a judge in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on those charges.

Yuran has been in the Trumbull County Jail since late November after a judge declared him a “substantial risk to the community”.
