Westminster College community mourns the loss of student athlete in car crash

The Westminster College community is mourning the loss of student athlete Gage Hendrickson after he died soon after being involved in a car crash.

According to Westminster's website, Hendrickson was a senior biology major and was a member of the men's basketball team during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

Hendrickson graduate Youngsville High School in Warren County, PA in 2020.

According to a press release from Mercer County PSP, Hendrickson was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Springfield Township in Mercer County back in December of 2023.

Troopers say Hendrickson was attempting to turn left into a driveway, but failed to yield to another vehicle coming in the opposite direction and was struck by the vehicle.

Troopers say Hendrickson was not wearing his seatbelt and sustained major injuries in this crash. He was pronounced dead on Saturday, January 6. He was only 20 years old.

Information on funeral arrangements will be announced by Westminster's Office of Faith and Spirituality when available.
