A judge in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court has added another eight to 12 years to the life sentence of a Salineville man already imprisoned for murdering a Hanover Township woman.

Justin Givens, who will turn 29 this month, was sentenced after pleading guilty to possessing a weapon while under detention.

The charge stems from an incident at the Columbiana County Jail in October 2022 when authorities say he had a razor.

Givens received the life sentence last summer after pleading guilty earlier to seven of ten charges handed up by a grand jury following the shooting death of 67-year-old Mary Ann McGuire, whose body was found at her Depot Road home in March 2022.

Deputies searched Givens' home on Route 644 shortly afterward. According to the Columbiana County coroner, McGuire died from a gunshot wound.

Givens pleaded guilty to murder with a firearm specification, as well as two counts of grand theft of a firearm, and two counts of tampering with evidence.
