A woman tells Youngstown police how she fought off a man on the city's Southside as he allegedly tried to steal her car while her two babies were in the back seat.

According to police, the woman said she had stopped her Jeep at Magnolia and Woodcrest Avenues Wednesday afternoon when a man knocked on the passenger side window.

When the woman opened the Jeep door to find out what the man wanted, she says he came over to the driver’s side pulled her out, and jumped behind the wheel.

The woman tells police she grabbed the suspect’s shirt and threw him to the ground. The woman’s brother who was nearby, punched the suspect as he began to stand up.

Police arrested a man matching the suspect’s description nearby.

After being taken to Mercy Hospital to treat a swollen lip, thirty-year-old Jordan Moore was booked into the county jail for attempted theft. Moore is scheduled to be arraigned in municipal court on Friday.

The woman didn’t report any injuries to herself, or her two infants in the car.
