La Casa Mexicana Restaurant celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting in Boardman.

The restaurant has been open at 7334 Market Street for two weeks, but wanted to celebrate a quiet opening and make sure the staff was properly trained before getting rushed with crowds.

One of La Casa Mexicana's owners also owns Casa Del Rio in Wadsworth, and has taken a lot of items from Casa Del Rio's menu and recreated them for La Casa Mexicana.

One element that sets La Casa Mexicana apart from other Mexican restaurants in the Valley is that La Casa Mexicana is completely owned and operated by women.

"Most Mexican restaurants are all men," said one of La Casa Mexicana owners Maria Hernandez.

The restaurant is also adding more traditional Mexican dishes, including drinks and desserts. Hernandez travels to Mexico frequently, and has brought dishes and ideas back from Mexico to incorporate in La Casa Mexicana's menu.

"I want Hispanic people to come in and find those little things that are hard to find in other Mexican restaurants," said Hernandez.

The restaurant also offers traditional Mexican favorites as well, and offers something for everyone.

La Casa Mexicana is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Their full menu and hours can be found on the restaurant's website
