Warrant issued for suspect in deadly South Avenue shooting
EDITOR'S NOTE: A previous version of this story stated there was a second suspect in this shooting. We've since been sent a corrected release from YPD stating that Altreche is the only suspect at this time.
The Youngstown Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect in a deadly shooting on Youngstown's south side earlier in December.
A warrant was issued for the arrest 19-year-old Jonthony Altreche on one count of murder. Altreche is accused of killing 26-year-old Ty'Rice Logan on the 2200 Block of South Avenue on December 10.
Youngstown Police Captain Jason Simon tells 21 News the warrant was issued December 10 but was not publicly announced until Wednesday in order to give other agencies time to find Atreche.
Police say Atreche should be considered armed an dangerous.
Logan was one of three victims in a string of homicides that occurred over one weekend in Youngstown. None of those homicides were connected and police believe Logan's murder, as well as both others to be targeted.
Altreche is described as a Black male with black hair and brown eyes standing at 5'9'' and weighing 125 pounds.
If you or anyone you know has any info on Altreche or his whereabouts, you're asked to call Youngstown Police or U.S. Marshals at 1-866-4WANTED. Tips can remain anonymous.
