Patriot Hospice in Trumbull County gave one of their patients a special present just before the holidays this year.

Through a program called "A Moment in Time with Patriot," the organization took patient Richard Ansback on a special day where he got to 'hunt' through the new Bass Pro Shop in Niles.

According to Patriot Hospice, Ansback was an avid hunter before entering their care. Due to his illness, he is no longer able to do one of his most cherished hobbies.

So in the spirit of the holidays, the organization took him to the Bass Pro Shop to tour the store with its general manager. Ansback learned the history of the store and the design choices made that reflected local attractions like Mill Creek Park and Lake Erie.

During the tour, Ansback also got the chance to shoot a crossbow at a target in a special room built specifically for shooting.

Once the tour was over, Ansback and his family got to spend some time shopping and getting a photo with Santa.

"[My grandpa] was beyond excited and truly happy, like a kid in a candy store," Amanda, Ansback's primary caregiver said. "We appreciate the Patriot Hospice so much for helping him with his wish and making something incredible happen for him."

After the visit, hospice staff and Ansback's family got lunch at Mission BBQ.
