Farrell man who fled from Brookfield, Sharon police gets no jail time
There's no jail time in the sentence for the Farrell man convicted of charges stemming from a police chase from Brookfield into Sharon.
Robert Russell, 40, appeared before a judge in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, and was placed on intensive probation for three years,
Russell pleaded guilty in October to attempted failure to comply with police orders and attempted tampering with evidence. In exchange for his plea, two misdemeanor charges for obstructing justice and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from a 2022 traffic stop for a headlight violation. According to Brookfield Police, they stopped Russell and found what was believed to be a bag of narcotics under his leg.
While trying to apprehend Russell, he put his car into drive and fled from the stop.
The resulting pursuit led police to South Stateline Road where Russell got out of his car and ran into Sharon, where he was arrested a short time after.
