Man sentenced to over a decade in prison for fatal Youngstown shooting
A Youngstown man has been sentenced for his role in a fatal shooting outside a bar in Downtown Youngstown.
Johnny Serrano Jr., 24, was sentenced in Mahoning County Court to 11-15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and a weapons charge.
In September 2022, Serrano was arrested for the shooting death of 32-year-old Yarnell Green Jr.
Officers responding to the scene near Federal and Hazel Street say they saw a large crowd of people fleeing the area and Green lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Green was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Serrano was indicted late last year on charges of aggravated murder, murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and weapon violations.
He plead guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and weapons violation in October.
