YSU Police arrest man after breaking into a campus building to keep warm

A man was arrested by YSU Police Wednesday after calling officers on himself for breaking into a campus building to keep warm.
According to a police report, 52-year-old William Rupert called YSU Police to Kohli Hall around 4 a.m., telling them he was not feeling well, and that he had "really messed up the place."
When officers arrived on scene the found windows along the south entrance doors and several other windows shattered.
The report states that officers pulled their guns out upon seeing the broken windows, and entered the building.
After entering, officers found Rupert on the floor of the building's lobby.
Officers held Rupert at gunpoint, but he was taken into custody without incident for breaking and entering. A folding knife and fork were found in Rupert's back pocket.
Rupert told officers that he broke into the building because he needed a place to "get warm." He also confessed to breaking the windows with a drill bit to gain entry.
Rupert was charged with breaking and entering, possessing criminal tools, and vandalism. He was also given a written trespass warning.
