A Cleveland man has been sentenced for distributing drugs in New Castle.

According to the release, 44-year-old Donte Smith was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison for drug trafficking crimes.

Smith previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute at least 40 grams of fentanyl, 50 grams of methamphetamine and 28 grams of cocaine base between March 2020 and August 2021. 

Another charge says Smith distributed heroin, fentanyl and cocaine base on October 30, 2020. Two other charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine occurred on August 21, 2021, and December 20, 2022.

After his prison term, Smith will be under supervised release for four years.

The Lawrence County Drug Task Force, New Castle Police Department, Shenango Police Department and Hickory Township Police Department were involved in the investigation.
