Boardman High School senior breaks state, national records at powerlifting competition

A Boardman High School senior broke several records at a powerlifting competition over the weekend including both state and national records.
According to a press release, senior Jacob Boyles competed in the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) Erie Open in Erie, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 3.
Boyles competed in the 165 lb. weight class 16-17 age group and broke three records including the Pennsylvania State Records in the bench press (307 lbs.) and deadlift (518 lbs.)
Additionally, Boyles broke the national record for his weight class in the squat, setting the new record at 507 lbs.
According to the release, Boyles is a wrestler at Boardman High School and has had a powerlifting goal in mind for many years. This was his second time competing in a USPA event.
