The fallout continues after YSU's board of trustees offered the president's job to Republican congressman Bill Johnson this past week. Saturday, several YSU alumni sent a letter to the trustees demanding they rescind the offer and conduct a new search.

They posted a lengthy letter on Facebook arguing that Johnson's policies as a congressman go against the university's diverse student population.
The letter calls for a presidential search "that involves the university at large, permitting input from faculty, staff, students and alumni".

A campus protest is planned for Monday at noon outside Tod Hall - where the president's offices are.

Johnson said in a short statement that he has not decided whether to accept the offer.
