The Pittsburgh-based grocery store change, with nearly 20 stores across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys, ends its FuelPerks+ program in January.

According to the press release posted on the company's website, the program is ending on January 24. However, Giant Eagle is reformatting and merging its two existing programs in one - myPerks. Any points remaining in your Fuelperks account on January 24 will be moved to your myPerks account on that date.

Giant Eagle media relations said it is moving "the best benefits of fuelperks+ and myPerks into a single loyalty program bringing you the fuelperks+ rewards you love, like free gas and up to 20% off groceries, are now also available in the myPerks program, but with the added choice of dollar rewards delivering great savings on groceries and gas at a time when you need it most."

Shoppers with existing fuelperks can check their current perks balance on your Giant Eagle receipt, in your account on the Giant Eagle app, or by contacting us at contact Giant Eagle corporation.

All converted myPerks points will be redeemable under the myPerks program starting January 25.

With the merging of the programs, shoppers will still be able to use their Advantage Card to earn and redeem perks.

Giant Eagle shoppers who want to convert their points in advance of the deadline may do so by going to a 'switch now' option with a web link.
