Donald P. Scott from Youngstown was inducted into the Ohio Veteran's Hall of Fame class of 2023.
 
The award recognized the accomplishments and achievements for their service after the military.
 
Each year an executive committee, made up of representatives from Ohio's veteran's organizations selects up to 20 honorees. \
 
After Scott completed an active duty tour in 2006, he served in the Army Reserve until he retired in 2012 wiht the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. 
 
He served as a federal law enforcemet officer.
 
He was an officer with Youngstown Police Department serving for 30 years. 
 
Scott retired in 2019 as a detective and commander of Youngstown Police Department's crime scene unit. 
 
 Scott has his Juris Doctor and Doctor of Law and Policy degrees, volunteered  as a police representative at the Youngstown Veteran's Treatment Court.
 
His public service contributions include providing meals to elderly, disabled and persons in need.
 
As an attorney he provided free legal assistance to the community and Ohio Veterans Home residents. 
 
He has served on the Mahoning County Bar Association Certified Grievance Committee and the Ohio State Bar Association Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. 
 
Veterans selected for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame served our country honorable and continue to serve their communities,  state, and nation through volunteerism, advocacy, professional distinction, and public service.
