In honor of Veterans Day, 21 News is shining a light on the challenges veterans face when transitioning to civilian life.

From adjusting to a different work environment to coping with PTSD, these hurdles highlight the importance of supporting our veterans beyond their military service.

It is an issue many veterans struggle with and creating a purposeful life through community or employment is crucial.

The National Coalition of Homeless Veterans reports nearly 13% of the homeless adult population are veterans and it is estimated that roughly 22 veterans die by suicide each day.

Suicide hotlines like 988, VA hospitals and Valley crisis center offers counseling and support.

Veterans Outreach supports veteran with financial assistance, shelter, and food.

"Veterans Outreach provides a few programs to help veterans when they are facing a difficult circumstances that they cannot overcome on their own." Executive Director, Teri Ely said.
