Traffic is being slowed along part of eastbound Interstate 80 in Mercer County due to an accident that injured four people.

Dispatchers were told that a speeding vehicle struck another vehicle just before 2 a.m. Friday about two-and-a-half miles east of the state line.

Authorities confirm that a boat was dispatched to the scene to recover one of the four victims who was ejected from a vehicle and landed in the Shenango River.

A medical helicopter landed nearby to transport victims to a hospital.

Eastbound traffic is backed up in the area.

Rescue crews from several local fire departments were alerted.

As State Police investigate, 21 News is working to learn more about the accident and the condition of the victims.
