Beeghly Center set for renovation following basketball season

Renovations are coming to Beeghly Center on the Youngstown State University campus for the 2024-25 season.
Men's basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun has been the catalyst behind the fundraising efforts to enhance the home of the Penguins.
That comes to fruition following this season.
"It's been a group of guys in this community that believe in our basketball program, " said Calhoun.
According to Calhoun all the red chairs on both sides will be taken out along with the bleachers on the second deck and will be replaced by all chair back seats.
The bleachers and chair back seats have been in Beeghly Center since it opened in 1972.
"We saw 5 to 7,000 fans in this building the last 8 or 9 games last season and to take the next step...we can't play in building that's had no improvements in 50 years," said Calhoun.
Plans are also to upgrade the concourse area and lockerrooms.
