Best Buy has recalled multiple Insignia pressure cookers sold at stores nationwide due to a potential burning hazard.

The recall involves Insignia's six-quart and eight-quart pressure cookers with model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9 and inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9 sold separately as replacements.

The model numbers can be found on the the permanent on-product label on the side of the cookers.

The recalled products have incorrect volume markings on the inner pot, which can cause consumers to overfill the pot with hot foods and liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick release method or opened where its contents are pressurized.

This in turn poses a burn hazard for users. So far, 31 incidents have been reported with 17 of them resulting in some form of injury. Some of those injuries resulted in second-degree and severe burns.

Anyone who has purchased a recalled product should stop using it immediately and contact Best Buy for a free replacement for the inner pot and floating locking valve for signaling pressure.

Consumers are reminded to always check that the inner pot is not filled beyond two thirds capacity when pressure cooking, that the lid is fully locked before pressure cooking is started and that the floating locking valve for signaling pressure.
