Folks in Sharon will have something new to look forward to next summer with its river front near Quaker Steak & Lube.

The restraint is expected to break ground next month for a new riverfront entertainment complex on the former Tully's side of Quaker Steak and Lube. The expected completion of the project is at the end of 2023.

The project includes a meeting space for the community and an event platform where the former Tully’s site that is open to the public, not just the restaurant. The new event venue has the potential of adding up to 40 new jobs, according to a news release from the city.

 
Additionally, there will be upgrades to the Sugar Shack Satellite Bar including a permanent event platform including a meeting space over the former Tully's site not just for Quaker Steak, but for the city and community as a whole.
 
"Creating a downtown that is event-friendly is key to its revitalization," said Sherris Moreira, Director of Downtown Development. "City events help draw more people into our business district to visit our restaurants and shops."
 
The project was part of a third round of funding from about $800,000 in American Rescue Plan funding that was given to the city last year. It received around $200,000 for the project.
 
Other projects included in that funding include a co-op kitchen incubator at Laurel Technical Institute's Sharon Campus, a book and gift shop, Sharon skyline facade projects and a second location of Julian's Bar and Grille out of Meadville.
