Hazmat dispatched after brine tanker rolls over on Route 305 in Hartford
Part of Route 305 in Trumbull County is closed as first responders investigate an overturned tanker said to be leaking.
The truck rolled over in Hartford Township about one mile west of the state line after 10:30 a.m. Monday.
The 31-year-old male driver, who was initially trapped in the cab, had since been freed and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown with a swollen face.
Troopers say the driver doesn't recall what caused the accident.
The tanker is carrying brine. State Troopers and Hazmat authorities have been called to the scene.
First responders who were at the scene said the road will have one lane open as the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to clean up the debris. EPA official Kurt Koller, told 21 News their tests found no significant amount of hazardous material and he predicts his crew will be working on the road for the remainder of the day.
According to the state trooper on the scene, the driver of the tanker truck will receive a citation in the near future.
Diamond Energy, an oil & natural gas company in Warren, are the owners of the tanker.
