Trumbull County Dog Warden looking to build bigger, more modern facility
The Trumbull County Dog Warden & Kennel is currently looking to build a bigger and more modern facility as a way to help with the influx of dogs currently in the kennel.
Trumbull County Executive Dog Warden, Michelle Goss tells 21 News the current facility on Anderson Avenue in Warren is old, small and "run down" so the kennel is looking for a more modern facility.
Once the new facility is up and running, the facility on Anderson Avenue will be shut down.
Goss tells us in addition to being bigger, the new facility will have so much more that the current facility doesn't have including a meet-and-greet area, a quarantine area, a surgical area and much more.
According to Goss, Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County located in Vienna Township donated some of its land to the Dog Warden in order to build the new facility.
Goss tells 21 News it is too soon to determine the dimensions and measurements of the new facility, as well as a time frame on when work on the facility can start.
At Wednesday's Trumbull County Commissioners meeting, a fund was established for any donation money toward the new facility to go into.
No official fundraisers for the new facility have been announced at this time, but Goss says you can always donate to the Dog Warden for the new facility or for other operations by mail or in person at the Anderson Avenue facility.
Goss tells us the Dog Warden is looking into grants and fundraisers to raise money for the new facility as well.
