A Warren man is scheduled to appear in court on October 16 for allegedly leaving multiple cats abandoned at an unknown property.
A criminal complaint was filed against 57-year-old Reuben Shaw on October 6. Court records show he is charged with abandoning animals and prohibitions concerning companion animals.
According to the complaint, Shaw abandoned three cats.
21 News spoke to Lori Shandor of Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County who was identified as the complainant in the case. Shandor tells us Shaw allegedly took three cats that looked as if no one was taking care of them and dropped them off at a random property.
Shandor says Shaw did not know the address of the property and to her knowledge did not get the consent of the property owner to leave the cats there or inform the owner that they were going to be there.
At this time, the condition of the cats are unknown.
Shandor says it is illegal to drop any animal off at a property without the permission of the owner and if you do so, you could be charged with abandonment.
Shaw is expected to appear in the Warren Municipal Court on October 16 at 1:30 p.m.
