New details released in officer-involved shooting on Youngstown's south side Thursday

The Youngstown Police Department has released more details on an officer-involved shooting that occurred on the city's south side late Thursday morning.
YPD has released a partial police report, along with audio from a call to 911 made by the owner of the home's mother. The mother told officers that the owner of the home is currently incarcerated.
The caller tells dispatchers that suspects have been "having a field day" at the house stating that suspects have been stealing bikes from the home and also mentioning that a truck had been stolen the previous night and it had allegedly been driven through a gate.
The caller told dispatchers that the suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Ricco Acevedo was back on the property.
Police say when they arrived at a home on the 4000 Block of Helena Avenue, they found Acevedo inside the home. Police say he "wasn't supposed to be there." The police report states that Acevedo was giving false information to avoid identifying himself.
At this time, it is unclear what exactly led up to Acevedo being shot, but YPD says that one officer was placed on leave pursuant to department policy following the incident.
Sources with BCI tell 21 News but no officers were injured during the shooting.
21 News has learned that the home in question is owned by Ernesto Cuevas who is currently in jail. Cuevas was arrested by the Boardman Police Department back in September of 2023 when police say he detailed various ways he would murder police officers.
An autopsy was conducted on Acevedo's body and the incident remains under investigation by BCI and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office.
