Struthers woman accused of abandoning her two eldest children, hitting them during argument
A Struthers woman has been arrested after police say she abandoned her two eldest children and hit them during an argument.
According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a home on Sexton Street in Struthers on September 10 for a welfare check on the children living at the residence.
Upon arrival, police spoke to a male, later identified as the boyfriend of the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Christina Gould. Police say the male told officers that the children were not home and refused when police asked for consent to search the home.
Later on, police say they were called back to the home in reference to Gould's two eldest children, aged 13 and 14 years old respectively had been abandoned by her.
Police spoke to the two teens who told officers that after they left the first time, the 14-year-old got into an argument with Gould. During the argument, the 14-year-old took the youngest child into her room to calm down.
Police say Gould attempted to retrieve the child from the 14-year-old, pushing, scratching, and hitting both teens in the process. Gould then left the residence with her boyfriend and the youngest child according to police.
The teens told police that neither of them had heard from their mother since aside from one text from her sent to the 13-year-old stating that he was "now on his own."
The two teens were released to their grandmother and older sister.
It wasn't until a month later that Gould was arrested on a warrant after she was located by Boardman Police in a room at the Town and Country Motel with her boyfriend and the youngest child. Gould was arrested without incident and the youngest child is currently in the custody of Gould's boyfriend.
Gould is currently in the Mahoning County Jail facing a charge of endangering children. No additional charges were filed by Boardman PD.
