A woman in Warren is scheduled for video arraignment in municipal court Wednesday after being charged with the death of her infant son who authorities say tested positive for methadone in September.

Aris Rice, 32, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail Tuesday on charges of reckless homicide and child endangering.

According to a police report from Warren PD, officers were dispatched to a home on S. Feederle Drive shortly before 5:00 a.m. on September 24 to investigate a report that a child was unconscious and possibly not breathing.

Police found the eight-month-old boy lying on a table not breathing. Officers spoke to the boy's mother, later identified as Rice who told police her son had been vomiting since around 7:00 p.m. the previous evening.

Rice told officers the boy was crying continuously and she couldn't get him to calm down. Police say around 1:00 a.m. Rice took her son's temperature and it was around 99 degrees.

Rice went on to tell officers around 4:00 a.m., she noticed her son was not breathing or moving. The child was then transported to Trumbull Regional Medical Center for a toxicology test and was later flown to Akron Children's Hospital for further treatment.

Police say "a certain amount of methadone" was found in the child's system and a bump was found on his forehead.

21 News has reached out to Warren Police to determine when the boy had died.
