John Demart, a 65-year old former Mahoning County Sheriff's deputy, will serve 15 days in jail after changing his plea to guilty on 5 counts of misdemeanor theft on Thursday.
In the sentence, Demart was also given 3 years probation and ordered to pay $191 in restitution to the Kensington Golf Course & Grille for each of the five charges, totaling $955.
Two charges of telecommunications fraud against Demart were dropped, as were two of the theft charges Demart had originally faced.
The charges stem from a scheme where Demart would alter golf reservations at Kensington and pocket the money for himself. A criminal complaint obtained by 21 News says he stole a total of $236.
Demart will begin his 15 day jail sentence on October 20th at 8 am.
