A new industrial area known as the “North Jackson Commerce Park” is coming to the Mahoning Valley.
The 45 acres of land is located on Mahoning Avenue in North Jackson, next to the Macy’s distribution center. The land will be turned into five different lots for major companies to do business in the valley.
“When we see opportunities like this it's going to create more jobs on top of more jobs,” Al Cutrona, Ohio State Representative of the 58h district said.
The $30 million project has been years in the making between Mahoning County officials, Jackson Township officials and local entrepreneurs.
Greg Toporcer and his wife Lori of Top Property Holdings are both originally from Austintown and decided North Jackson was the spot for the site because they want to see the area grow.
“When you look at the valley and look at buildings available there's not a lot of class A, light manufacturing, warehouse distribution space in the valley that has 32 foot height clearing ceilings and clean space that's out there,” Greg said.
Top Property has developed several industrial sites in the area over the past few years but this is the biggest project they’ve taken on yet.
“To bring in and keep this valley going and create jobs, it's important for us,” Greg said.
The project will be built in three phases. The first phase will include building roads and a 80,000 square foot building with 32' clear height ceilings, 8 loading docks and 4 drive-in bays. It’s expected to be completed by November of 2024 and companies can sign a lease in 20,000 square-foot options.
No companies have been solidified to move into the space yet - but developers are expecting it to attract regional and national businesses to the Mahoning valley.
Construction on phase two will start in 2025.
