Ashtabula Co. Auditor announces bid for 65th district state representative
Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas has announced his bid for state representative in the new Ohio House District 65.
The old 65th District has been represented by Mike Loychik (R-Cortland) since 2021.
The new 65th District covers most of Ashtabula County and northern and eastern parts of Trumbull County.
Thomas is seeking the Republican nomination in the March 2024 primary. He has served as the Ashtabula County Auditor since 2018, winning the election at the age of 25 and unseating 12-year incumbent Roger Corlett.
A release from his campaign noted his ties to Trumbull County. He spent much of his childhood in Johnston Township and Cortland on his grandparent's farm.
His grandparents also served the community. His grandmother Diana Marchese spent 24 years as Trumbull County Recorder and his grandfather Dominic Marchese has been a trustee in Johnston Township for a number of years.
