First time three representatives from Trumbull County are elected to NAACP state board

At the Trumbull County NAACP banquet, some outstanding graduates were honored.

This is the first time that three women from Trumbull County have been elected to the NAACP State Board.

Emari Edmonds was elected as State President for Youth and College NAACP.

Zippora Ball has been elected as NAACP Youth President.

Annette McCoy the President of the Trumbull Warren NAACP has been elected as Third Vice President for the state of Ohio NAACP.

"It is actually historic and I'm very proud of our young people. We are just going to bring changes at our state level for the Ohio NAACP, younger voices and we are gong to bring some more concerns to their table," McCoy emphasized.

The three will bring their voices to the state on several issues including support for Issue One, gun laws, and the proposed SOBE Plant.

"One of the things we will be focusing on and we have been as most people know is about the SOBE Plant and Climate Justice in our area. We want to work with legislators in Columbus pushing policy to make some of the changes so we can live in a healthy environment," President McCoy added.

"What's going on in Youngstown is a platform for across the country, so people need to be educated, our legislators need to be educated, and there needs to be further investigation into chemicals that come out of plants such as the one proposed," McCoy emphasized. 

We asked why they support Issue 1 and are working to educate people?

"Until legislators provide free medical care for our young people and daycare, and give more support to mothers, then maybe at that time they can tell us what to do with our body," McCoy explained. 

At the Honoree Banquet for the class of 2023 the Trumbull NAACP is recognizing 3 high school graduates, 3 college graduates, two post graduates, and 2 medical doctors.
