21 News first reported it in August.  Now a man who prosecuted some of the most high-profile cases in Trumbull County has made official his bid to become a Common Pleas Judge.

On Wednesday, Trumbull County First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Becker filed petitions with the Board of Elections to run for the Common Pleas Court seat of Andrew D. Logan, who cannot seek re-election in 2024 due to Ohio term limits.

Becker, who has been First Assistant in the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office since 2010, has handled several headline-grabbing cases including the prosecution of Donna Roberts, the only woman currently on Ohio’s Death Row for her part in a plot to murder her husband.

Becker also led that state’s case against 15-year-old Jacob Larosa, who was sentenced to life in prison for burglarizing, robbing, attempting to rape and murdering a 94-year-old Niles woman.

During his 23-years as a prosecutor, Becker says he worked with Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins to bring Claudia Hoerig back from Brazil to face prosecution for the murder of her husband, Air Force Major Karl Hoerig in 2007.
