Ohioans have another chance to name an Ohio Turnpike snowplow beginning October 16
Whether it's a pun, a catchy rhyme or just plain cool, the Ohio Turnpike is once again challenging Ohioans to name a snowplow for the 2023 winter season.
The 2023 "Name-A-Snowplow" contest starts October 16 and will challenge Ohioans to get creative and come up with a name for one of the Ohio Turnpike's eight snowplow trucks that will be displayed throughout the winter season.
Previous years showed multiple creative names come from folks in the Mahoning Valley including "Blizzard Wizard," which was suggested by Jaqueline Flowers of Youngstown in 2022 and "Ah Push It... Push It Real Good," which was suggested by Cori DeRenzis of Brookfield in 2021.
Folks will have until November 16 to submit their suggestions for names. From there, voters will have between November 20 and December 6 to vote on their favorite names. In the event of a tie, a winner will be selected from a blind draw.
The winners will be announced on December 11. All winners will receive a $100 gift card. Winners will be notified via phone or email.
Contestants must be 18 years old or older to participate. Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission staff, their families and winners from previous years are not eligible to participate.
Submissions can be made on the Ohio Turnpike's website beginning October 16. The contest was started in 2021 and has been held each year since.
