A Newton Falls man facing child pornography and rape charges has rejected a plea deal and will soon be heading for trial.

During a pretrial hearing Tuesday morning, 39-year-old Steven Billock was presented with a plea deal of 51 years to life in prison instead of life in prison without the chance of parole. Billock rejected this deal.

Court records show Billock is charged with 31 counts including rape, attempted rape, pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor, gross sexual imposition and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material

The charges stem from a search warrant conducted back in June of 2023 at a home on Grant Street based on a tip from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children that traced back to the residence.

During the search warrant, the eight-year-old victim was present and was taken into custody by the Trumbull County Children Services Board.

Prosecutors declined to comment further on the case, as it is still ongoing, but during the hearing, Assistant Prosecutor, Gabe Wildman described this case as one of the worst child pornography cases he's seen.

According to court records, a jury trial is scheduled to begin Monday, September 11 at 8:59 a.m.
