YEA details focus of negotiations set to resume this week

The Youngstown Education Association will resume contract talks with the school district this week, while shedding light on what those talks will focus on.
Sunday, the YEA sent out a memo explaining that after Friday ruling from the State Employee Relations Board deemed the ongoing strike legal, the district can end the strike by removing certain language that is presently in the contract.
The language in question allows the Superintendent to keep extraordinary power, similar to what the CEO had.
While the Union wants the language removed, both Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor and Board President Tiffany Patterson insisted Friday that they cannot legally do so.
21 News has reached out to the Ohio Department of Education to clarify if this language can in fact be removed from the contract.
It is unclear when exactly the two groups will meet this week.
