One victim in stable condition after shooting causes crash in Youngstown
Youngstown police are looking into an incident involving a car that crashed after the driver was shot on Belmont Ave. near Norwood Dr. Saturday afternoon.
According to a police report from YPD, police found the red Chevy Malibu (pictured above) crashed into a pole in the parking lot of a business on the 1600 block of Belmont Avenue. Police say the vehicle had multiple bullet holes on the driver's side.
The vehicle was not occupied when police found it, and it was later revealed that the victim ran into a nearby business after being shot and was transported to the hospital.
Police found multiple spent rifle casings about 10 yards away from where the vehicle was stopped.
According to Lieutenant Mohammad Awad with YPD's Detective Bureau, detectives were not called to the scene because the victim was in stable condition.
In the meantime, the case remains in the hands of YPD's traffic investigations unit.
