Authorities have lifted an evacuation notice for homes in a Columbiana County neighborhood following a natural gas leak.

County officials learned about two leaks along State Route 172 near Spillway Road shortly before 6 a.m. Friday.

First responders evacuated homes within 300 feet of the leaks and blocked Route 172 between Hanna Drive and Depot Road.

At 6:30 a.m. workers from Columbia Gas arrived on the scene to work on stopping the leaks.  

Although utility crews continued working on repairs, the evacuation order was lifted at 10:15 a.m. so residents could return to their homes.

21 News is working to find out if the leaks were caused by the overnight storms.
