Police hope tattoo will help identify body of man pulled from Mosquito Creek in Niles
Niles police are investigating after a body was found in Mosquito Creek.
According to Captain John Marshall, the badly decomposed body was found around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Police were alerted to the body by kayakers who discovered it.
An autopsy was conducted by the Trumbull County Coroner's Office on Wednesday. According to the Coroner's Office, autopsy results revealed the body to be that of an unidentified male.
According to Captain Marshall, the male's race and age have not been officially confirmed, but he is believed to be either white or bi-racial and his age range is believed to be upper teens or twenties.
Captain Marshall tells 21 News DNA is being submitted to BCI in an effort to confirm the identity of the body.
Marshall provided 21 News with an artist's rendition of a tattoo on the male's upper right arm. That sketch appears above.
Additionally, the doctor reported a metallic imprint in the male's right hand believed to be part of a surgical procedure he underwent during his life.
The cause of death is pending reports from toxicology tests.
There was scavenger activity on the body, meaning it was likely there for some time.
