Bond set at $250,000 for Hubbard child rape suspect

A suspect in a child pornography case in Hubbard has been placed on house arrest with a bond of $250,000 and ordered to turn in their passport.
Kerester was arrested on Belmont Avenue in Liberty late Thursday. Police say items Kerester had with him indicate that he was attempting to flee the area.
The arrest comes three days after Hubbard City Police searched Kerester’s Elizabeth Street Home, which resulted in him being charged with one count of Rape and 10 counts relating to possession of child pornography.
According to police, Special Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Deputies from the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office Human Trafficking Task Force K-9 Unit uncovered digital evidence that revealed Kerester was in possession of pictures and video files containing child sexual assault material. Police say videos depicting Kerester having sexual conduct with a child were also recovered.
Additional electronic and recording devices seized from the residence will be analyzed, and police say more charges could follow.
The investigation was sparked by a tip sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Kerester was booked in the Trumbull County Jail with no bond where he awaits a video arraignment in Girard Municipal Court.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. on Aug. 17.
