UPDATE: U.S. Marshals join search for escapee that allegedly ran victim over with stolen car
United States Marshals are now assisting local law enforcement agencies in the search for a Youngstown woman who escaped the Eastern Ohio Correctional Facility last week and is still on the run.
The Lisbon Police Department on Monday filed charges of theft and escape against 37-year-old Ashley Croley, who they say may have left in a blue Chevy Cobalt stolen near the East of Chicago pizza restaurant on Market Street in Lisbon on Saturday. The restaurant is just one block down the road and across Market Street from the EOCC where Croley jumped the fence.
According to a criminal complaint, while trying to stop the theft of the Cobalt, the car backed over the owner and then drove forward over the owner. 21 News has contacted Lisbon Police to learn the condition of the car's owner and is still waiting for a call back.
The Cobalt, with license plate JLU4699, was last seen driving north on Ohio State Route 45 possibly heading to Salem or Youngstown.
Croley originally pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs and was sentenced to 18 months probation in February of 2023, but was found to have violated that probation in June. In a probation hearing in July, Croley was sentenced to serve up to 6 months of her probation in the EEOC, due for release in January next year.
Croley is described as a 5 foot 5 white woman, approximately 130 lbs. She has blond hair, and blue eyes, and was reportedly last known to be wearing a grey top with black trim, black leggings with pink stripes, and black tennis shoes.
