Two teens plead guilty to murder of Youngstown teen, both sentenced to prison
Two teens involved in the murder of a Youngstown teen have both pled guilty in court Friday morning.
According to court employees, 18-year-old Anthony Wilkins Jr and 17-year-old Anjuan Whitfield both pled guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter with firearm specifications and having weapons while under disability.
Due to Whitfield's 18th birthday being the day after sentencing, both he and Wilkins were sentenced to 17 to 22-and-a-half years in adult prison.
The charges stem from the 2021 murder of 14-year-old Landon Lockhart of Youngstown. Lockhart was declared missing by police in November of 2021 and was found dead two months later in a wooded area on the city's east side.
Wilkins and Whitfield are two out of the three people charged in this case with the third being 17-year-old Elijah Carlisle.
