Warren Giant Eagle employees stop men trying to shoplift cake, flowers

Detectives are reviewing security video as they try to identify two suspected shoplifters who may have been planning some kind of celebration.
Two employees of the Elm Road NE Giant Eagle told Warren Police they confronted two men who were about to leave the store lobby with a shopping cart containing a cake and flowers.
One of the men claimed to have paid for the items at the bakery. When one of the employees told them there is no cash register at the bakery, one of the “shoppers” threatened to kill the employees if they didn’t let go of their buggy, further challenging to workers to come outside with them so they could “kick their ass.”
The confrontation ended when the suspects left the store empty-handed.
The employees told police that the two drove away in what appeared to be a Ford Focus.
