Youngstown Press Club awards first scholarships
The Youngstown Press Club has announced the two students set to receive its inaugural round of scholarships.
This year's recipients of the two $2000 scholarships are college juniors Hannah Werle of Girard and Gianna Effinite of West Middlesex.
Werle is a Journalism and Communication double major at Youngstown State, with a minor in english.
She currently serves as an assistant in the University's Office of Marketing and Communications and the assistant copy editor at The Jambar, YSU's student newspaper.
Effinite, a corporate communication major at Penn State Shenango, has occupied a slot on the Penn State dean's list 2020, is hoping to get into corporate communications and enjoys playing golf. She currently works as a shop assistant at the Tam O'Shanter Gold Course in Hermitage.
Werle and Effinite will receive their scholarships at the press club's Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, taking place on September 7th at 5:30pm at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The scholarships are funded by membership dues to the press club and proceeds from donations and club events. They also represent the press club's first round of scholarships since it's re-establishment in 2018.
