Newton Falls Councilman, John Baryak was handed his sentence in the Newton Falls Municipal Court on Wednesday.

According to court employees, Baryak was originally charged with Aggravated Menacing, a first degree misdemeanor, but this charge was reduced to disorderly conduct.

Additionally, his domestic violence charge was dismissed along with his $250 fine. Court employees say Baryak will not be getting any jail time was only ordered to pay court costs and pay the victim $650 in damages.

Baryak's original charges stemmed from a complaint filed in the Newton Falls Municipal Court in December of 2022 when Baryak's brother told deputies that the two got into an argument related to money.

According to the complaint, at one point in the argument, Baryak pointed a gun at his brother and threatened to kill him.
