Wandering man arrested for trespassing at Howland veterinary clinic, restaurant, home's porch
Howland Police have charged a Warren man accused of making uninvited visits to two businesses and the porch of a private home.
Police were first called late Monday morning to a veterinary hospital on East Market Street where employees said they went on lockdown after a man walked in and stole a surgical kit containing a scalpel.
Shortly afterward, a man with a similar description walked onto the back porch of a home on Laurelwood Drive SE and took a drink from the homeowner’s cup of coffee. The woman told officers she locked the door and told the visitor to go away.
After that, police believe it was the same man who allegedly walked into the office of a Market Street Restaurant asking for money and cigarettes.
Police arrested the suspect, 26-year-old Matthew Wagner, outside the restaurant.
He did not have the stolen surgical kit, which was discovered in bushes near the veterinary clinic.
Matthews was jailed on charges of burglary and trespassing. In addition, Matthews faces other charges of theft and vehicle trespass filed in connection with incidents from the previous week.
