A Youngstown man has been sentenced in an Austintown arson case from 2020.

Court employees tell 21 News that 35-year-old Matthew Alexander was sentenced to 10 to 14 years in prison with credit for 58 days served on three counts of aggravated arson and one count of breaking and entering.

The charges stem from an arson incident from September of 2020 at a home on South Beverly Avenue in Austintown.

Police say Alexander and another woman broke into the victim's house looking for drugs, but when the homeowner told them they were in the wrong house Alexander became aggressive, set various items in the garage on fire and left the scene.

Police were able to track down the two suspects by using their car and video of them setting the fire.
