Salineville man awaits sentence for murder of Hanover woman
A sentencing hearing is scheduled next Tuesday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for a Salineville man convicted of murdering a Hanover Township woman.
Justin Givens, 28, pleaded guilty on Monday to seven of ten charges handed up by a grand jury following the shooting death of 67-year-old Mary Ann McGuire, whose body was found at her Depot Road home in March of last year.
Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart tells 21 News that Givens pleaded guilty to murder with a firearm specification, as well as two counts of grand theft of a firearm, and two counts of tampering with evidence.
Weikart says the prosecutor is recommending a life sentence with eligibility for parole after 21 Years.
Givens has been held in the county jail on $1 million bail since his arrest in March when he was arrested for having weapons under disability and attempted escape.
Givens is the boyfriend of the victim's stepdaughter Alyssa McGuire.
Deputies searched Givens' home on Route 644 shortly afterward. According to the Columbiana County coroner, McGuire died from a gunshot wound.
