Argument over fireworks leads to alleged fight, Beaver Twp. man charged
A Beaver Township man is facing a felonious assault charge after a fight Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened at Maplecroft Trailer Park around 5 p.m.
According to the report, officers arrived they found a man laying on the ground with a swollen left eye and blood coming from his face and mouth.
Witnesses at the scene told police that a man who shoots off fireworks and flares all the time was the attacker. According to police, the trailer park has a rule against shooting off fireworks, leading to an argument between the suspect and victim.
The suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Robert Walp, allegedly threatened to burn the victim's house down and said "you do not know the people I do" before punching and kicking him.
Officers located Walp, who claimed he was acting in self-defense.
Reports say Walp told officers he had been hit in the back by the victim with a spatula, leading him to punch the victim.
Walp was arrested and charged with felonious assault due to the severity of the injuries caused to the victim.
