Avalon Downtown Pizzeria offering franchise opportunities nationwide

The iconic Youngstown pizzeria, Avalon Downtown has announced on Thursday that it is now offering franchise opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs across the country.
"This has been a long journey for the brand and the pizza. I think it's important to note that this is just not our brand. It belongs to the community itself," said Avalon Downtown owner, Anne Massullo-Sabella.

Avalon Downtown has a long history in Youngstown dating back to the 1930s when it opened on Belmont Avenue by Massullo-Sabella's grandparents as Avalon Gardens. It has since become an icon in the community.
However, pizza was not introduced to the menu until the 1970s when a young Michael Sabella and his friend Robert "Smitty" Smith introduced it to the menu. Since then, pizza has been Avalon's signature menu item.
In the 2010s, Avalon Gardens shut its doors, but is still thriving as Avalon Downtown in downtown Youngstown serving as a gathering place for the community.
"We are eager to share a Youngstown icon with all. There are so many people around the country who know Avalon pizza. We are excited to expand into this new opportunity and begin to franchise and expand our family," Massullo-Sabella said.
