Local leaders are reacting to Tuesday's announcement that Lordstown Motors is filing for bankruptcy and suing Foxconn, Taiwanese electronic giant that purchased the former General Motors plant.

21 News caught up with Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill, who says he believes Foxconn will be ok in the long run, and while he's hoping for the best for Lordstown Motors, there's currently "quite a few hurdles" for the company to clear.

"Right now, the future's pretty hazy. We do not know what's going to happen at the facility," Mayor Hill said.

Valley Congressman Bill Johnson also weighed in stating that while Lordstown is out of his jurisdiction, he still feels disappointed about the announcement, but is optimistic for the future.

"I don't know if ultimately they'll be able to work out their differences, but ... the people in the Lordstown region, they know how to make automobiles. They know how to make vehicles. And I'm confident that at some point, we're going to see a revitalization at the Lordstown plant," Johnson said.
