Humane agents rescued 11 dogs from a deplorable home on Youngstown's East Side on Thursday, June 8. Animal Charity Coordinator, Jane MacMurchy tells 21 News why this home stood out from the many other deplorable homes she's seen.

MacMurchy desribed this home as "the worst hoarding home [she's] ever seen in the history of Animal Charity" with pictures posted to the organization's Facebook page painting a picture of these conditions.

Containers of food, laundry baskets, appliances and other household items appeared to be scattered everywhere along with 11 dogs.

"We're used to seeing homes in deplorable condition, we're used to seeing homes covered in trash. This home was more so than any home we've ever seen before," MacMurchy said.

MacMurchy tells 21 News the dogs were dehydrated, hungry and covered in feces, had overgrown nails and no room to move due to all the clutter surrounding them.

According to MacMurchy, the dogs are all decompressing and are currently being monitored due to their severe dehydration. MacMurchy went on to say the dogs were severely undersocialized so they're currently working on learning how to interact with humans.

The homeowner was removed from the home and underwent a mental health evaluation. Court records show the homeowner was issued a quality of life citation, and a case has been filed to determine whether or not humane agents had a just cause to keep the dogs.
